No more place for Jewish Supremacy than White Supremacy

Many liberal zionists who are appalled by what is being perpetrated by the Israeli State on Gaza contend that the idea of Jewish supremacy is a new one, related to this current far right government but, as this article illustrates, the idea of supremacy was built in from the very start of Zionism and this has long been reflected in practice.
As Jewish people, it can be painful to see the star of David used as a symbol of oppression but this is the reality. Beyond its logical place on the Israeli flag – another way of proclaiming that it was “the Jewish State” – it is being deployed in many ways, as described at the beginning of this article – to mark supremacy over Palestinians and more. This is the reality, however.

Ideas of Jewish supremacy have been central to the Zionist movement from its beginning. Just as we call out white supremacy in the United States, we must call out Jewish supremacy in occupied Palestine.
