Ken Loach and Holocaust denial

JVL Introduction

The Corbyn era saw an abundance of false rumours and allegations as he and his supporters were relentlessly smeared (see for example our 2019 Briefing for canvassers: Challenging false allegations of antisemitism).

Now, years after, they are being trundled out again with Ken Loach being the latest victim of a false accusation of Holocaust denial.

The fact that this particular smear has been refuted time and again – this below from Daniel Finn is over two years old – is simply ignored by those whose trademark is a willingness to play fast and loose with notions of truth.

  • As I’ve said before, smearing someone is practically always kept simple and consise and easy to remember (and of course delivered with lots of faux outrage and condemnation and vilification). And it is of course directed at the emotions – ie concocted to evoke this, or that, emotion, or emotions, whereas unravelling and dismantling a smear, a falsehood, and explaining the actuality is practically allways lengthy and often convoluted, and is by its very nature directed at the intellect.

That said, Daniel Finn does/did a great job of doing so!

  • When Sir Keir Starmer becomes PM I believe he will set up a Ministry of Truth in the newly formed H.U.A.C. (House of un-British Activities Committee), set up to counter fake news; left-wing propaganda and the misrepresentation of New Labour policies. This Quango will be set-up in partnership with Sir Rupert Murdoch in conjunction with those well known purveyors of ‘TRUTH’, GB News; Talk TV and the Sun.

  • To Steve Richards:

“When Sir Keir Starmer becomes PM…”

Cheer up. It might never happen.

  • Good article!

I was reminded of this when I listened to “Thought for the Day”
on the Today program of 14th June. The program was presented by
“Rev Lucy” – I didn’t catch her surname. It was about telling the truth.
    and finished with the words:

“If I were put on trial for living a truthful life would there be enough evidence to convict me?”

  • I’m afraid this is how our media, particularly on the Right is currently operating. It has become both the instigator and echo chamber of unfounded, untruthful comments which satisfy the government ‘s need to refute any responsibility and create well crafted lies to persuade people of unfounded truths. The media is now truly the message.
