Jerusalem flag march the ugliest yet
JVL Introduction
Another wild Flag March, putting two fingers up to the very presence of Palestinians in Jerusalem, took place on 5th June to mark the Israeli “annexation” of east of Jerusalem.
Most Palestinians stayed well clear. In their absence of Palestinian victims, rampaging youths turned their violence toward journalists, Israeli as well as Palestinian.
“But,” says Nir Hasson, ” journalists are not the story. The story is the depth of the cesspool to which the religious Zionist society has sunk. This is a society whose main annual event is a sickening demonstration of racism and violence.”
Organisers made no attempt to call for restraint, with no one being more inciteful than Ben Gvir, declaiming “We say to them that Jerusalem is ours. The Damascus Gate is ours. The Temple Mount is ours.”

I've Seen Every Jerusalem Flag March in Last 16 Years. This One Was the Ugliest
In previous years, officials made some effort to keep things calm. This year, it appeared that the youths were given free rein to shout racist slogans, to run riot and to attack anyone they came across

In parallel to this and complementary …..
Counter demonstrators waving Israeli flags are becoming a feature at local rallies in Camden calling for a ceasefire in Gaza. The demonstrators are confrontational and aggressive, attempting to occupy the space where the rally is being held. The Israeli supporters are using whistles and amplifiers to disrupt any speeches, and the clear intention is to provoke a reaction. The police frequently remove individual pro-Israeli demonstrators but it’s not clear if any charges are being made. A common sight is a large Israeli flag announcing ‘from the river to the sea, this is the only flag you’ll ever see.’
These people shame us all. And no-one will stop them. It is one of those occasions where I feel- completely irrationally, but nevertheless – more Palestinian than Jew. Why? Because I appreciate how the Palestinians must feel as I never can how these Jews feel. What is there about anything these Jews do which in any way resembles what I and countless others were raised to understand it was right for Jews to do? Absolutely nothing. They are spitting in the face, not only of the suffering Palestinians, but also the forbearance and courage of their own ancestors, indeed the essence of what it is to be human. They are a danger not only to Palestinians, but to Jews everywhere, because in their tragically extreme expression of Jewish pride, they are engendering a new hatred of Jews. Hatred has always been something Jews were proud to rise above; now we are all tarnished by this bigotry which only violence can express.
Ben Gavir and his supporters are pure evil. Even children were chanting “death to Arabs”. Gavir and his fellow extremist fanatics in the Cabinet and the likes of the Zionist “Hilltop Youth”, who set fire to Palestinian lands, burn Palestinian homes and raid their villages in the West Bank, are Fascists. There is no other word to describe them. Israeli society is so racialised and seeded with hate against the Palestinians of all faiths. Hate is embedded in school curricula, stoked deliberately by Israeli Media, politicians, culture and imbued with bloodlust and a determination to exterminate and expel Palestinians for good. It bears the hallmarks of the Nazi “final solution”, but using modern weapons technology. It’s frightening. The “West” has kept the fascist pot simmering in Palestine for years. The only answer is the dismantling of the Zionist entity. Let the fanatics go back to Russia, Europe and the USA and enable the building of one state in the Holy Land, where all faiths can live as one and all Palestinians will have the right to return to their homeland.
These are Zionism’s Hitler Youth and as they grow in strength secular Israeli society, despite being Zionist to the core, diminishes.
These children are the logical outcome of Zionism’s belief in purity of race because that really is what a Jewish State stands for.
Of course polite Zionist society will deprecate this but when Omar Bar Lev, Israeli Labor Security Minister was in post a few years ago, this annual pogrom was still allowed to proceed.
If anyone doubts the apartheid nature of Israeli society just reflect a minute if these had been Palestinian youths. Either the police would have gone in with batons or they would have opened fire. Contrast the attack on Shireen Abu Akleh’s funeral cortege with the permissive atmosphere in E Jerusalem yesterday where these settler youth were treated as naughty boys.
Any attempt by Palestinians to defend themselves is dealt with violently of course just as when Jews defended themselves against the pogroms in Czarist Russia they too were attacked by the army and police.
But I forgot. Making such comparisons is anti-Semitic because Israel is sui generis
A racist dystopia = Israel
