Jeremy Corbyn was right about Putin from the start
JVL Introduction
Peter Oborne looks back at the vilification of Jeremy Corbyn and highlights that he was one of the first to warn about Putin, initially at the time of the war in Chechnya.
Why are the knives still out for Corbyn? Is it partly because “For the Tories and the Labour establishment, mocking Corbyn distracts from their own long-lived collaboration with Vladimir Putin and his oligarchs“. (London’s role in money laundering is well documented – here about Russian Oligarchs)

Russia-Ukraine war: Jeremy Corbyn was right all along about Putin and his oligarchs
Far from being pro-Putin, Corbyn warned against him when others didn’t

Other times, Peter Oborne was truthful about Jeremy Corbyn.
The striking thing for me is, all were published by @middleeasteye, not in any UK media outlet – MSM or in UK online media.

“We now need a full scale, judge-led enquiry into how Britain’s political media class was penetrated for so long, and up to the highest level, by Putin proxies”. Agreed.
Also needed are judge-led inquiries to investigate the harms done by such influencers and how to stop them happening again.
In light of the non-appearance of the Forde Inquiry report and the redactions in the Russia Report, the remits for these inquiries MUST include full publication online and offline of all their findings and complete interim reports must be provided on schedule even if there have to be delays to the full reports.
I don’t see how we can make these things happen – but they have to …
Ken Livingstone, who should by now be a Sir and a Lord if not King of Britain as London’s previous innovative mayor cosseted friendly come hithers toward Hugo Chavez’s extraordinary Venezuela for its competitive oil price exclusively for London’s people. And, what did Ken’s detractors bellow? They bellowed “Communist” and other weird anti-Ken slogans that ensured London never received cheaper oil. All of a sudden, it has to be said in this Western exacerbated Ukraine crisis, Venezuela is being sweet-talked by way of being able to supply the UK with spare fuel that the UK cannot now, with sanctions, get from Vlad Putin. Who’d have thought Venezuela was in such a good political position to gain her gold reserves back from the Bank of England in exchange for desperately needed oil the UK needs right now as the UK’s domestic outrageous utility bills should be bringing us all onto the streets against crippling fuel bills?
Difficult to work this one out! So Corbyn is “good” if he has any history of being anti-Putin? Because,of course, Putin is “bad” as he has “oligarchs” these would be the same oligarchs that the City of London launders money for. Could it be that Peter Osborne somehow wishes to distance himself from ANY POSSIBLE allegation of pro-Putin bias. Why should he do so and why should he wish to do so on Corbyns behalf?
What emerges most powerfully from coverage of the Ukraine conflict is the usual blatant propaganda from British media. This war is the worst war because it is being conducted by one who is NOT a British ally. Whether Putin is “justified ” or not is irrelevant Russia is not a British ally so his war is “bad”
The war wage in Yemen is “good” because it is waged by a British ally, Saudi Arabia to whom we sell arms. Yemen is the worst human disaster in the world and Britain is complicit in this. But Britain is still “good” and, of course Putin is STILL “bad” Double standards? How dare I suggest such a thing. Am I a pro-Putin plant? How dare you suggest such a thing I dont even like vodka.
So true. The best commentary on the horrors in Ukraine has come from Corbyn in an interview with Novara News. The vast majority of comments were favourable to Jeremy. However, in a recent Byline Times article major figures on the Left such as Pilger and Chomsky are castigated for mentioning the part played by the USA and Nato in ignoring Russian concerns about their security and moving Nato to the very borders of Russia despite assurances that would not happen. The writer of the piece claims the US has changed . It is no longer seeking domination . Chomsky and Pilger and by extension those of us who have spent a lifetime watching American crimes have ,the piece claims lost moral authority.
There have been several bilious attacks on Stop the War. I am proud to say I support that organization in every way. The country needs people who will seek to end the terrible conflict. What we have in our media are journalists who treat this story with glee. They cant get enough of it.
George Peel. The reason Oborne gets his s stuff published in the Middle East Eye is because none of his former employers and friends will have anything to do with him after the critical pieces he writes about Johnson and his cronies. They have sent him to Coventry. Read his book” the Assault on Truth”.
KS jumped like a poodle to endorse the destruction by Modi of Kashmir’s special status within the Indian constitution, in breach of international agreements – Modi, whose hands were long stained with the blood of thousands of Muslims against whom he led a pogrom when Chief Minister of Gujerat. He supported the claims of the BJP and its paramilitary wing the RSS to represent all Hindus resident in the UK. Are there no depths to which KS will not sink ride on eh Islamophobic wave?
It should also be remembered that Jeremy Corbyn was probably the only Labour MP associated with the journal Labour Focus on Eastern Europe, a journal that opposed the brutal, self-proclaimed ‘Communist’ regimes in eastern Europe from a Marxist perspective.
Thank you, Peter Oborne. As Julian Assange wrote from Belmarsh “Truth, ultimately, is all we have.”
It’s interesting what Melanie McDonagh says in the Spectator article linked to in Peter’s article, which the headline makes more than clear – ie ‘Jeremy Corbyn is right about Russia’:
Those who do stand to benefit from this attempted murder are opponents of the Russian regime; either organised criminals, Mr Corbyn’s ‘Russia mafia-style groups’ or other states – I dunno, maybe Ukraine? – which gain rather than lose if the Putin regime is even further discredited…..
Either way, I can’t help thinking that Jeremy Corbyn cuts a more convincing figure in this awful affair than either Mrs May or poor Gavin Williamson who told the Russians they should ‘just shut up’.
The author of the piece also says the following: ‘But really, in this as in so much else the question is, cui bono?’
Exactly!
Putin stood only to lose – ie sanctions and international condemnation etc, etc. And does it seem remotely plausible that he would have an assassination attempt carried out just two days before the hundred days to go ‘celebrations’ for the World Cup Football, and just three months or so before the Tournament kicked off, and which Russia was hosting for the very first time?! OR, that the assassination would be planned and executed in such a haphazard way?! But how fortuitous for the Skripals though that the Chief Nurse of the British Army just happened to be walking by with her daughter at the time and, as such, came to their aid!
Craig Murray put it like this: ‘The odds are about the same as the chance of my vacuum cleaner breaking down just before James Dyson knocks at my door to ask for directions.’
Exactly!

I have a handful of journalists, real, genuine journalists that I have respect for. Of course reading the works of Pilger & Chomsky broadens my small knowledge of world politics, but I have seen, heard & read the most atrocious & vicious attacks on Jeremy Corbyn which has proved just how much the Tories, now Labour fear him…its more about the fact HE stands up for the Human Rights of all & his warnings about the Russian financial influence has been noted by many . Look around London & see how many properties are owned by Russia, China, Saudi…many are empty with security guards day & night.
From experience of relatives post 2nd world war Russia has always had a hold on people, & if there was any rejection of Russian policies then people “disappear ” forever!
When British politicians become so intimate with brutal regimes its usually because money is involved & you only need to look who donates to the Tories & why.
Blair & Mandelson have benefitted & Mandelson still does, his fingers are in many piroshki….& that in itself is frightening. Jeremy Corbyn like his friend the late Tony Benn saw exactly what corruption does to political leaders & who they are intimate with & how their personal fortunes grow, whilst whatever integrity they may have had, disappears forever!
