Israeli Soldiers force Palestinians south – without their belongings

Those left in northern Gaza are being pushed to the south and forced to leave their belongings behind. People affected especially fear for their children in the cold. They will have no choice but to sleep in tents – if they are lucky enough to find space and shelter after ongoing bombardments and the impact of the heavy rains. To have had to leave warm extra clothing and blankets behind is surely cruelty beyond measure. Al Haq’s Report outlines how these forced evacuations to so called “Safe Zones” are part of the genocide being carried out by Israel, under the open gaze of the world.
This has to stop and Israel must be held to account. But there is no sign of that and, currently, Israel is planning to implement an effective ban on the work of UNRWA in Gaza as well as the West Bank and East Jerusalem with effect from January 30th. The plight of the people in Gaza would only get worse than the already unimaginably appalling.

I am reminded of Jews and others deported to the Nazi death camps, although they were usually told (in western countries) that it was for resettlement. Allowed to take just one small suitcase, what they left behind was stolen – and so was the suitcase they took with them. I wish I could suppress such thoughts but I can’t. The Israeli ‘security forces’ are the Wehrmacht, SS and Gestapo of our time.
I simply do not believe the death figures issued by Hamas could possibly be so low. Gaza started with 2million. We see the destruction of homes and the tented camps. It is hard to believe there are 1 million left. Surely the genocide must be about 70% complete.
I think most do accept that it is higher than the official figures. They are not, for example, counting those dead under the rubble, although conservative estimates are that there are 10,000 there. Even while some of the dead will be combatants, it is clear that the overwhelming majority are civilians given the astoundingly high percentage of children and women among those known to have died. It is also likely to be harder and harder to keep the registry up to date given the destruction of infrastructure. The final figures may never be known but will become clearer when people can be matched to the (thankfully) digitised records. What is also disturbing is how often we hear from those who support Israel, seemingly uncritically, is the claim that the figures from the Health Ministry in Gaza are being inflated for propaganda purposes. (And, of course, we are always supposed to be reminded that the Health Ministry in Gaza is run by Hamas! No one seems to be disputing the fact that over 90% of the population has been displaced, mostly crammed into 20% of the Gaza Strip when the whole of Gaza was already one of the most, if not the most, densely populated placed on the planet.
However humanely they may have started their service, the Israeli soldiers seem to have been deprived of any humanity now, following the example of their murderous leaders. Very reminiscent of 30s Germany, it seems to me – and that didn’t end well.
