Gaza’s digital economy wrecked amongst the genocide

The physical destruction of Gaza since October 2023 and the distress and suffering of Gaza’s people has been visible on our screens whenever broadcast media bother to show it. But there is another less visible dimension of the destruction. Despite outages, Gaza had built a reasonably successful digital economy and the internet allowed Gazans contact with the world for education and contact with family in the West Bank and the diaspora and to share details of life under siege with the world.
As a part of their assault on all aspects of life, Israel has targetted this connectivity with brutal economic effects as well as increasing isolation.
