For the defenders of Israel’s war on Gaza, the game is up
JVL Introduction
The prolonged war on Gaza is leading to the collapse of all the lies and misrepresentation on which support for it has been based.
In this analysis in Middle East Eye, David Hearst shows his contempt for those who only now, after the bombing of the World Aid Kitchen convoy, feel Israel has gone too far.
Where were they during the prior siege of al-Shifa hospital, or when Netanyahu pledged to shut down Al Jazeera’s regional office (after consistently murdering many of its journlists over the course of the war)?
“How, asks Hearst, “was this repeated attack on the [World Aid Kitchen] convoy different from all the other attacks on Unwra convoys which resulted in hundreds dead and which sparked the siege of al-Shifa?”
“The only difference is that seven dead aid workers were British, Polish, Australian and Canadian, and that the founder was a celebrity chef.”
Israel is baiting Iran, trying to provoke it to attack. The Middle East, Jordan through to Morocco, is in turmoil. If Israel is allowed to continue on its current trajectory a conflagration is likely. But its friends are finally wavering in their unstinting support.

For the defenders of Israel's war on Gaza, the game is up
Staunch allies calling themselves friends of Israel are beginning to realise they are also friends of the murderers of western aid workers, friends of genocide and friends of fascism

I have been complaining about the establishment of illegal, Jews-only, (Zionist-only), colonies in occupied Palestine for some years. This has inevitably led to injuries and death for Palestinians and is the Crime Against Humanity of ethnic cleansing, but when “Friends” of Palestine and the likes of PSC refuse to campaign on this – and were even reluctant to acknowledge this, were see just how emboldened the Zionist regime has become.
The metaphors being used in this otherwise excellent article, “the dam has burst”, “the mood has changed” or “pressure mounts” are all potentially misleading because from the outset, in October 2023, the public was already appalled.
The question David Hearst is really posing is, how have our political leaders been able to delude themselves (and those other ‘superior’ people enchanted by them) that any of this was self-defence or proportionate etc?
And the answer may be hinted at in one of your adjacent articles (the report of The Runnymede Trust into immigration). If we substitute the word ‘Palestine or Gaza’ for ‘immigration’, thus
“… the wider discourse about (GAZA), and its implications in terms of policy-making, are constructed, legitimised and promoted in a top-down manner, and have been deeply racialised, structurally and at every stage”
It baffles me how we can even be thinking of electing Starmer or any other Israel apologist now that it is clear just how delusional or manipulative he is/they are.
100% these weren’t the first or only aid workers murdered by Israel, over 100 aid workers & journalists murdered since Oct7th & many many more in previous years.. some British, European & American.. yet in previous years the crimes were whitewashed or ignored & swept under the rug. But let’s not forget the thousands of ordinary unarmed Palestinians murdered, MSM seem more outraged at 7 murders than the tens of thousands, the deliberate starvation of 2 million.. but if these 7 murders are the trigger to change the narrative so be it.. for 45 years I’ve seen the escalation of brutality & genocide excused by UK media & now its Politicians and the Truth so twisted its beyond belief.. and STILL the media & Politicians twist the TRUTH about Israeli occupation & the ethnic cleansing of Palestine. Added to which is the scandal of Israel in Eurovision & Olympics. A Genocidal State being whitewashed by Entertainment & Sports Industries ..
One of my reasons for leaving Labour in 2020 when Starmer was elected was his pleasure in describing himself as ‘Zionist without qualification’ I couldn’t stay in a Party with a leader who supports a quasi religious.political ideology that is guaranteed, by it’s own definition, to create division. Labour has a long and proud heritage of Jewish Socialist thought, that openness and caring has influenced the Party to a benefit for all – Starmer has driven a wedge into the cracks formed by his acolytes insidious accusations and lies. In my opinion the Zionist Starmer has become increasingly radicalised to such a point he has lost any sense of balance, sacking Jews who think differently is a shocking example.
Now we are in a position of a Labour Leader unable or unwilling to recognise the calls to see Genocide , played out in front of us on TV, for what it is by the vast majority of Nations Worldwide.
I have seen the LFI as a rotten core of the Labour Party since the days of Blair when our Northern Cllrs. used to joke about membership being made compulsory, it’s no joke now when holding a different opinion or presenting that of your constituents goes against the radicalisation of the central Party.
It stinks, it’s rotten and a party shifting policy to idealise and support that of a foreign power, currently under investigations, Worldwide, for the worst of war crimes is a Party anyone with an wish for politics to work for the betterment of society impossible to support.
