The Palestinian refugee problem has been with us for 75 years and counting.

Many myths about it have grown up – or have been carefully cultivated – to try to downplay the problem, deny it or wish it away.

Anne Irfan looks here at five of the most prevalent myths: Arab leaders told Palestinians to leave; children of refugees shouldn’t count as refugees; UNRWA gives Palestinians an unfair advantage over other refugees; they have no right of return; the Nakba ended in 1948.

She debunks them.
