BBC whitewash in support of Josh Simons
JVL Introduction
Paul Holden is the author of The Fraud, a magisterial study of Keir Starmer’s rise to power and the underhand role of Labour Together, dark money and political deceit in orchestrating it.
It was reviewed by JVL here in December.
Its revelations led to the resignation of Starmer’s political adviser Morgan McSweeney and more recently Cabinet Minster member Josh Simons.
On 28th March BBC Newscast published a lengthy interview with Simons about how he as a director of @LabourTogether, had appointed a firm called APCO Worldwide to investigate Holden and his colleagues.
At no point was Holden asked to comment:
“To be clear the BBC has NEVER – not once – approached me to comment on a story that is, ultimately, about me, my investigations, my family and my colleagues. They did not approach me when the story first broke, and they did not approach me for this episode.”
His complaint to the BBC about misrepresentations in the programme is posted below.
We suspect the story about these shenanigans has quite a while to run…

So much for the BBC’s claim to provide the news “unspun”. It also illustrates the BBC’s selective approach to fact checking.
Throughout the podcast, both the presenters, Laura Koenssberg and Paddy O’,Connell, and Josh Simons pretended they had never heard of Paul Holden and did not know, or did not wish to say, who Andrew Feinstein is…the candidate who ran against Keir Starmer in the July 2024 general election. The BBC’s modus operandi…ignore what doesn’t fit the permitted agenda.
