“Dockworkers do not work for War”

JVL Introduction

On Friday 30th October, a huge co-ordinated action took place in 113 ports in 25 countries across 5 continents to protest arms trading, especially to Israel! However, you would not know this if you relied on the mainstream media. Although a key focus was to block arms shipments to suport Palestinians, for many the protest was also against militarisation and military spending, something echoed in many of the massive demonstrations in many countries the following day.

The unions and activists understand that this is global trade and requires global coordination to resist and reject the trade in death. “Local unions in France, Italy, Greece, Spain, Turkey and Morocco issued a joint call for an end to wars in the Middle East, including the war on Gaza, and “an end to the militarization of ports”.

Their demands include an end to the transportation of weapons and military equipment through civilian ports to conflict zones and their action is supported by the Palestinian Federation of Trade Unions as this article shows.

Yet another example of the people in the world being on the side of peace and for justice for Palestinians and other peoples oppressed by the war machine but our political – and, of course, economic leaders are not willing to change direction sufficiently or, in many case, at all.

  • Dockworkers do not work for war – and neither do the train drivers in Scotland, thank God!

I got this in my inbox today:-

Scottish train drivers refuse to drive Israel-linked trains
    By SKWAWKBOX (SW) on 02/11/2026.

You might be able to read the article or something by the train drivers union if you search on the web. “Skwawkbox” has sadly been harmed almost as much as “Canary” was by the targeted assault on it so it doesn’t yet seem to be putting out magazine articles.

Few here will be surprised to hear that Lloyds Bank has apparently NOW paid “Canary” wholly inadequate compensation for de-banking it (and in the process killing it).
