Signs of a shift – Germany

Our sister organisation in Germany, Jüdische Stimme (Jewish Voice – for a Just Peace in the Middle East) has been subject to intense pressure as have all German organisations that work to support a just peace for Palestine.  The most recent was being designated as “extremists”, a designation that they have successfully challenged in the Courts as their press release makes clear.

We have posted several times about the distorted official German position on how it has solved the way to address antisemitism, which is to wholeheartedly and almost unquestioningly support the State of Israel. This has led to such absurdities as non Jewish “Antisemitism Tsars” telling our Jewish colleagues that they are not being proper Jews. We also note that the far right Alternative for Deutschland Party has its own antisemitism tsar. The fight is not over but this marks important progress. Given so many other countries, not least the UK, are veering fast in the same direction, we shall continue to watch what happens in Germany with interest.
