Julian Borger, the Guardian’s senior international correspondent does not hold back in his condemnation of Trump’s Board of Pece.
It was bad enough when endorsed by the United Nations Security Council, with no reference to UN principles of self-determination and national sovereignty and against colonialism.
Trump has adulterated it further. As Borger tells us “there is not a single mention of Gaza in the “board of peace” charter sent out to national capitals. That document instead portrays the board as a permanent fixture to promote peace and good governance around the world.”
The only person on it mentioned by name is its all-powerful chairman – Trump himself – with the power to dismiss members at will.
In essence, it is aiming to set up a privatised version of the United Nations with Donald Trump at its head.
As Borger sums it up: “an imperial court where vassal states pay cash and vie for the ear of the orange emperor.”

“There is also to be an international stabilisation force (ISF), overseen by a US major-general.” Totally delusional. Will not happen. A metaphor for the whole Trumpian Grand Plan which will collapse like a house of cards either under the weight of its own structural and functional incoherence, or with a nudge from BiBi who will not let this madcap dystopia come to pass. And with the demise of the Trumpian roadshow the Bored of Peace will melt away. Unmourned.
Trump himself put the final nail in the coffin in DAVOS. His body language told the tale. Slumped shoulders, deep frown… only a motley 22 signatories, 8 of them with skin in the game, signed up. He had blindsided them all with his ‘Charter’ which, when you actually had time to read it enthroned Trump as Master of The World. Boris Johnson eat your heart out. Trump’s Vanity Project will fadeaway. Don’t panic! “Who do you think you are kidding Mr Fascist if you think… ” we’re dumb enough to fall for that old trick. Jog on.
