BBC Report on call for apologies for British Imperialism in Palestine
JVL Introduction
On October 6th 2022, the BBC’s Newsnight included a detailed report outlining British atrocities in Palestine during its period of Colonial occupation. While the State’s response understandably refers to allegations, the evidence – with testimony from both Palestinian survivors and British soldiers- including recordings kept in the Imperial War Museum – seems conclusive. Whether the requested apology is forthcoming or not, it has, at the very least, led to this coverage.

UK apology sought for British war crimes in Palestine

Yet another absolutely sickening atrocity carried out by the British. None of this was taught in school, airbrushed out of national consciousness, it’s a disgrace.
Ive not seen the BBC program – but I wonder if there was a mention of the notorious “Black n’ Tans’ as part of the Gendarmerie
evolved in “pacifying” Palestine?
See for example: https://www.palestine-studies.org/en/node/78290
These were well known in Ireland for their murderous tactics when “pacifying” Ireland after the up-rising – so their employment as part of
the Palestinian gendarmerie (police) indicates the attitude of the
British to what they evidently regarded as their “Colony”.
They were originally sent (I believe) on Churchill’s orders. It was also Churchill who in 1921 gave a speech to “Moslem, Christian and Arab Clubs” re-assuring them of their safety in the event of a “national home for the Jews” [Article in The Times of April 2nd 1921, reprinted Times April 2nd 2021: “Justice for Arab and Jew”].
It is to be noted that Britain had promised independence
for Palestine in 1915 in order to gain the support of the Arab population in the fight to defeat the Ottoman Empire during
WW 1.
O Perfidious Albion ..!
British actions in Palestine were despicable, as were the actions of the Zionist militias which were at least ten times worse, when they killed thousands of Palestinians and deliberately destroyed hundreds of their homes and villages with the intention of wiping them off the map. Let’s see the BBC do an investigative report into this racist, apartheid policy – no chance.
Tucked away as the ‘And finally..’ item on the backend of a mid-week Newsnight, that’s our state-affiliated media’s conscience absolved then.

‘The British did this……….’ Quite a generalisation. Analysis of the class sruggle should show you that the poor & downtrodden in Britain were kept in ignorance about most issues, especially foreign policy It has always been the same as any form of education is a relatively recent phenomenum & the power of MSM in the global electronic village is kept tightly in the hands of the elite few. Knowledge is power & is closely controlled.
Gordon Brown said we should stop apologising for the British Empire but I was not aware that we had even started.
