The West’s complicity in Israel’s war crimes

By Leah Levane

A new book on western complicity: “The focus of the West’s current peace plan is de-radicalising the Palestinians. We are somehow expected to believe that it’s the impoverished, homeless and frightened Arab people who need to be detoxified, not the sovereign state that has vowed to eradicate them.”
why is is the oppressed people who have to deradicalise and not the oppressor state?

By Richard Kuper

There is nothing new in this report. We know it only too well.

But Gideon Levy is undeterred. While it is continues to happen he will continue to report it, inveigh against it. Maybe one day the world will listen?

“While Israel was grieving for its dead and hostage (after October 7) the settlers were quick to discern a golden opportunity. Why ‘ungrounding’ is the defining feature of Israel’s genocide

By Richard Kuper

We repost here a transcription of a fascinating discussion organised by +972 Podcasts, featuring Forensic Architecture’s Eyal Weizman and Ben Reiff in discussion about Eyal’s new book Ungrounding: The Architecture of Genocide.

“Ungrounding is unlike any wartime destruction, so we’re not talking here about war, we’re talking about ecocide and genocide.”

“[In normal wars] You can see roughly the organization of the urban surface, but ungrounding is basically the erasure of all of that. It’s much more than destruction. It’s the erasure of destruction. It’s the erasure of erasure, if you like. The rubbing out of any trace of existence.”

By Richard Kuper

In a pioneering study published by New Lines Magazine, Alessandro Stefanelli & Filippo Taglieri look at one of Israel’s illegal industrial sites on the West Bank.

It’s here that the detail of the occupation is exposed in all its casual viciousness and lack of care for the Palestinians on whom it is imposed.

Israel is severing the Jordan Valley from the West Bank

By Leah Levane

Trenches are being dug and a wall is planned from the occupied Golan Heights to the Red Sea.  This will effectively cut off the Jordan Valley, c, 30% of the West Bank from the rest of it.  If there is still anyone hanging on the idea that a two State “solution” is possible, this surely ends that illusion.

Mahmood aims to limit Migrants’ “right to family life”

By Leah Levane

Next steps in Labour’s clampdown on immigration will be put to Parliament next week; “(t)he planned rules would apply retrospectively to claimants who are already in the UK – a move that prompted a backlash from as many as 100 Labour MPs including Angela Rayner, who said it was unfair and un-British.”
