Here is a perspective as to why Israel is “singled out” compared with other nations who, eg violate international law and/or target a particular community living within their borders. We think it is necessary to ask what other nation that does such things is so strongly supported, including financially by other governments and allowed to commit ethnic cleansing and plausible genocide with impunity?

Only 66 building permits were granted to Palestinians in the West Bank, on their own lands, over the past eleven years. Over the same period 22,000 permits were given to Jewish Israelis to build in the West Bank; ie an average of 6 per year for Palestinians compared with 2,000 for illegal Israeli settlers.
Palestinians in the West Bank often obtain their energy from solar panels – when the settlers aren’t out destroying them.
Meanwhile their lands are being taken over for the construction of immense solar energy farms, from which both Israel and international corporations are profiting.
The role of surveillance technology in the armoury of repressive regimes is spiralling upwards.
Israel is one of the great pioneers, but it wouldn’t be possible without the backup provided by the world’s largest tech companies.

What on earth, asks Francesca Newton, “would make a Jew – a group so conscious of its minority status, one that tells holy stories about escaping persecution and historical ones about its consequences – join Reform?”
A combination, she suggests, of Israel, fear of Muslims and migrants in general. A desire to be a “model minority”, willing to aid the nation’s defence against invasion.
