With foreign backing, Israel’s solar energy boom is powering apartheid

JVL Introduction

Palestinians in the West Bank often obtain their energy from solar panels – when the settlers aren’t out destroying them.

Meanwhile their lands are being taken over for the construction of immense solar energy farms, from which both Israel and international corporations are profiting.

The energy they generate is denied to the Palestinians who often live beside them, next to the lands that were once their own.

As energy apartheid is imposed, alongside other forms of Palestinian dispossession, Forbes Magazine hold up Israel as a model for climate-minded business and infrastructure, saying “The world wants Israel’s energy and environmental innovations”.
