It has just determined that images of watermelon slices in the shape of Israel and the Palestinian territories are “antisemitic”.
In an op-ed in Haaretz Yuli Novak, executive director of B’Tselem, Israel’s premier human rights organisation does not pull her punches:
“A political system that treats the preservation of one ethnonational group’s majority as a legitimate political goal is not a democracy. It is a system of demographic engineering, designed to maintain one group’s supremacy at the expense of another that is denied basic rights. Calling it “democracy” does not change what it is: apartheid.”

Torture and sexual abuse in Israel’s jails for Palestinians, With info from a report from 1977 Insight article in the Times of London. It is worrying that it is almost impossible to imagine a legacy media outlet producing work of this depth that is unequivocal in its conviction that Israel uses torture on Palestinian detainees and in calling out all the places where the Israeli Embassy response claims as fact things that are not true. This was not a left wing outlet but was a newspaper with commitment to revealing the truth.
Five years ago in an act of solidarity that brought down a torrent of abuse from Zionists and their supporters, acclaimed Irish author Sally Rooney refused to allow her novels to be published in Israel if they broke the call for cultural boycott.

Israel’s standing in public opinion is at an all time low.
