Who’s afraid of Jeremy Corbyn?
JVL Introduction
David Rosenberg offers a reasoned critique of Rabbi Jonathan Romain’s call to vote anyone but Labour in the coming election. It involves a spirited defence of Jeremy Corbyn and his serious commitment of antiracism of all kinds. It also takes on James Cleverly, Stephen Pollard and others others for whom “the thought of Jeremy Corbyn as PM has Jewish investors running for the hills”.
And he says: “[W]hen I read this drivel, stereotyping the Jewish community as capitalists, I think of the many Jews I know well who work in the health service and caring professions who will be boosted by the prospect of a Labour government that is committed to funding their sectors rather than selling them off. I think of the struggling Jewish single parents and pensioners I know, and unemployed Jews, who have every reason to welcome a Corbyn-led government that would boost welfare payments rather than cut them, and would undertake other serious anti-poverty measures. I think of Jews I know who are users of mental health services, whose provision has been cut to the bone by the Tories. I think of elderly Jewish acquaintances living in the East End for whom repairs to their council housing and a well-resourced health service are very high on their agendas. These people need a Labour government to be returned on December 12th as much as their non-Jewish counterparts.”

Excellent, well written and compelling article.
Viva davetherebel viva! Wish some newspaper would give this piece a banner headline….
I think it is time to go on the offensive, especially to confront the lies and smears of the so-called “Campaign Against Antisemitism”, which is leading the witch hunt against Corbyn and anti-zionist labour party members. How this organisation remains a charity beats me: just look at its news page today:

I think JVL should put its weight behind the efforts to get the CAA deregistered by the Charity Commission.
As the Rabbi said in the other of today’s JVL articles, we Jews in Britain when the time comes will face violence from the right, not the left, yet the CAA seems to almost completely ignore the former and to call all critics of Israel antisemites. By doing this, they are increasing the dangers to Jews and promoting a Tory party that David Rosenberg so eloquently shows is racist to the core.
A SUPERB, OFTEN MOVING, ARTICLE.
Great article. Everyone should read it. If the Labour party is antisemitic then that must include all of us members I take offence at the inference. I wish a journalist would ask the question, why, next time they interview someone who claims Corbyn leads an antisemitic party.
As a humanist and secularist, I am amazed to see Jonathan Romain getting involved in this largely anti-Labour fake antisemitism project.
He – previously – always struck me as a highly rational and intelligent individual.
Who has filled his head with so much false nonsense?
What has caused him to swallow the false nonsense he now spouts?
This is a very helpful article. Those of us who will be knocking on doors on behalf of the Labour Party during the election campaign need to prepare ourselves with useful succinct arguments. I, (a lapsed Irish Catholic) find it helpful to say…”.I take my lead from the Jewish Voice for Labour, who like many other ordinary people support the Labour programme led by Corbyn”. I also urge them to look beyond the allegations against Corbyn to see what evidence they might find. I’d like to hear how others propose to deal with the anti-Semitic argument on the doorstep.
The ”rebuttle for campaigners” previously published on this site is very good , hopefully the ”more later” will arrive soon. Please!!
This article fantastic, thankyou.
Excellent article David.
Thank you for this article, it helps me to understand what is happening in the UK and around the world. My fear however is that humans are eternally stupid and too many that grandstand on this issue have already forgotten the precursors to the Nazi holocaust. Shalom.
