In 2009 Matthew Hoh resigned from his job with the US State Department over American escalation of the war in Afghanistan, where he was based; he had previously been a soldier deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan. He has since written extensively and has been awarded prizes for his work on peace and civil liberties, including campaigning for Julian Assange. He is an Associate Member of Veteran Intelligence Professionals for Sanity (VIPS).
It is clear that he understands the brutality of war but has not been an opponent of war per se. When he visited Israel, knowing full well the horrors that were taking place in Gaza, he was taken to a point where he could see into the Strip. He found what he experienced from the Israeli side which he describes in this short video to be truly shocking. It makes the voyeurism of 2014 (as in the image above) look amateurish in the extreme. We know the terrible things Israel is doing to people in Gaza but among many other questions, a serious one that needs to be addressed is: “What is Israel doing to its own young people whose future security is its justification for its war crimes?”

This is about as far as a human’s depravity can sink. We will need a stronger description of this kind of depravity, Nazism isn’t strong enough. Getting school children by the time they reach around 12-14 that they hate enough to laugh at other children being slaughtered.
