Two hours to leave: Forced, inhumane evictions and destruction in Hebron

JVL Introduction

Collective punishment is illegal and is an inadequate term for what is being done to the city of Hebron and its people. More unconscionable destruction of places and of people’s lives by the Israeli regime in the wake of the deaths of two IDF soldiers. The perpetrators were killed on the spot but this is not enough retalitation or retribution and certainly not enough to satisfy the vultures who grab anything they see as a “reason” – or rather an opportunity to make life even harder for Palestinians so that they will leave – but where are they suposed to go even if they wanted to.  The world did little to oppose the demolitions of parts of the refugee camps in Tulkarem and Jenin and, of course, nothing to stop the genocide in Gaza (or even to prevent one for those who are not ready to accept that it IS genocide).

This article tells some of the moving human stories and you can read more from just before the killings on Friday (23rd) on our earlier post here .  Here is the latest update (26th October 2026)  posted from prominent Hebron Peace Activist, Issa Amro whose sister, along with their seven children was among those forcibly displaced:

“3,171 people. 488 families. Evicted from their homes in Ein Bahha & Al-Jaladeh, Hebron. Among them: 209 infants, 258 elderly, 137 pregnant/nursing women, 198 chronically ill. No return date.”

The whole West Bank is being locked down for the Israeli elections; is anyone expecting a meaningful difference whatever the outcome?
