The ceasefire is still extremely fragile but King Abdullah’s refusal to go along with Trump’s plans for displacement of people from Gaza and now Egypt’s Sisi cancelling his planned visit to Trump may have helped tip the balance back. Hamas has announced it will release Israeli hostages as originally planned following a significant increase in aid, including shelter, entering Gaza.
Here Mouin Rabbani summarises the current position . Of course, discussion on Phase 2 should have already begun so the need to continue the pressure as well as “watching the space” remains.
