Reenacting Pharoah’s genocidal decree in Gaza
JVL Introduction
Rabbi Brant Rosen is rabbi of Tzedek Chicago and co-founder the Jewish Voice for Peace Rabbinical Council.
He draws on his biblical training in the service of constructing a Judaism beyond nationalism, one of non-violence, equity, spiritual freedom, solidarity, a Judaism beyond borders.
In this post he looks at the current week’s Torah portion, on Pharoah’s attempt to control the population of the Israelites by killing the new born boys, and draws an analogy with the “around 50,000 pregnant women are currently living in Gaza” and the impact of Israel’s genocidal violence on them and those newly born.
