There is an ongoing propaganda war being waged by Israel and its supporters extending far into the world of social media.
Neve Gordon looks here at the attempt to redefine antisemitism in this arena, by pressuring Facebook to include criticism of Israel as part of its own definition of hate speech.
For now Facebook has resisted, but the campaign to get it to adopt the IHRA definition continues, with all the dangers to free speech that that represents.

Redefining anti-Semitism on Facebook
If Facebook were to adopt the IHRA definition of anti-Semitism, this would be detrimental to freedom of speech.

The IHRA is not universally adopted, only about 28 countries have done so. FB is a global organisation so should adopt the globally accepted UN definition of anti semitism – which has a caveat that the state of Israel can be criticised as any other country would be.

Does anyone know how to notify Zuckerberg and Sandberg as called for in the final paragraph?
What is bizarre about all of this? The idea that a private company is being asked to define what constitutes “hate speech”. Facebook is not qualified to determine what is or isn’t anti semitic!
Criticising the Israelis treatment of Palestine is UTTERLY NOT ANTISEMITIC
