Poland Investigates Israel’s attack on the Global Sumud Flotilla

JVL Introduction

The Hind Rajab Foundation (HRF) is providing information to a Polish investigation that has been started into Israel’s attack on the Global Sumud Flotilla in 2025, which included 15 Polish boats and 4 Polish citizens.  Israel had no legal right to stop the flotilla or to detain the participants or to treat them so badly.

This is the third country in which investigations have started, another being the UK. HRF stated that: “This complaint is not about one abduction or imprisonment—it is a challenge to Israel’s impunity, which, from Palestine to Lebanon and Iran, escalates unchecked as long as the world responds with silence or half-measures. It is not only about justice for us, but about bringing the world’s attention back to where it should have been from the beginning—to Palestinians, who are being subjected to violence, dehumanisation, and torture. The urgency is even greater after Israel’s recent adoption of the death penalty law, the effects of which are set to fall almost exclusively on Palestinians”

Hopefully this marks a shift together with the increasing (but still too small) countries that have said they will arrest Netanyahu if he comes to their countries.  With the demise of Victor Orban, this list now includes Hungary (but to its shame not the UK!)

  • The JVL introduction is incorrect. It states that with the demise of Viktor Orban, Hungary joined those countries who would arrest Netanyahu. Not at all, far from it! Immediately on being elected – he did not even wait for a day – new Hungarian prime miniszter Peter Magyar invited Netanyahu to Hungary.
I am deeply disappointed by this incorrect JVL comment.

  • To add to Dr. Agnes Kory’s comment: she also sent links about the invitation and this may be of interest to readers. The Israeli government referred to a “warm conversation” and  invitation to Netanyahu to visit Hungary. https://www.gov.il/en/pages/spoke-call150426
