Palestine at the World Cup

JVL Introduction

The enthusiasm for Palestine at the World Cup has been truly humbling to witness. Palestinian flags are everywhere and Israeli journalists are having a rough time of it.

Ramzy Baroud wrote this article in advance of the events in Qatar and everything he said has been confirmed time and again.

Palestine is not an external cause.

For Arabs generally, Israel represents a history of western imperialism and colonialism, military occupation, racism, violence and more; while “Palestinians  embody the unhealed wound of all Arabs. Courage and sacrifice. Refusal to surrender. Resistance. Hope.”
