Moral hypocrisy threatened by anti-Zionism
JVL Introduction
This piece by the ever-excellent Rabbi Brant Rosen exposes the moral hypocrisy of those who charge critics of Israel, such as New York politician Zohran Mamdani, with encouraging and exacerbating hostility toward Judaism and Jews.
By promoting Zionism as essential to Judaism and Jewish identity, while attacking supporters of justice for Palestinians, the Jewish communal establishment shows itself to be “threatened by anti-Zionism: a political position that is rooted in human rights and equal rights for all. ”
Brant Rosen’s article should be read in conjunction with Richard Kuper’s analysis, published here recently, of the ways in which blind support for Israel by leading Jewish institutions promotes anti-Jewish sentiment.
