Marking Palestinian women’s struggle for liberation

International Women’s Day on March 8 this year was marked by many events and publications celebrating the role of women in the Palestinian struggle.

In the Morning Star Nisreen Morqus, general secretary of the Movement of Democratic Women in Israel. wrote about the extraordinary courage of Palestinian mothers and daughters, struggling amidst destruction, humiliation and the loss of loved ones to create normalcy from the ruins of their former lives.

Below we publish an examination of Palestinian women’s vital role from the early days of occupation to the present, by Stella Swain from the Palestine Solidarity campaign.

Women of Palestine’s struggle continues #IWD25

“Palestinian women stepped out of their houses and onto the streets to protest in twelve cities for women’s rights and for an end to the occupation. They were clear that true liberation for women cannot take place without a liberated homeland.”
