Rejecting pinkwashing: LGBTQ Voices Speaking Up for Palestinians

JVL Introduction

This article describes the many initiatives by progressive LGBTQ communities in many countries to combat Israeli pinkwashing campaigns. Israel’s claims to be the only protectors of gay Palestinians are contradicted by their record of blackmailing them to become informers. Pinkwashers want us to ignore Israel’s atrocities by giving the state an LGBTQ-friendly veneer.

Pinkwashing asks us to see Palestinians as ‘less civilised’ and less worthy of our support and therefore to normalise Apartheid and occupation.
