Lebanese paramedics say attacks on ambulances are always wrong

JVL Introduction

49 first responders in Lebanon have been killed so far since these latest Israeli attacks on Lebanon.  The situation is terrible, terrifying and heartbreaking; just like paramedics in Gaza and in Iran the demands are enormous and the risks should be insurmountable and yet they will not stop. Their bravery and the harsh conditions they are working in must never be forgotten.

Guy Smallman is a London based photographer and journalist has been in Lebanon and interviewed a number of paramedics who described some of the difficulties they face with determination.  He saw the conditions in which they were operating and also told them about the attack on the ambulances belonging to a Jewish charity  in London and they were appalled.  For example Abbas Al-Dhainy responded:

“We demand all the groups and the parties to protect and respect of our counterparts be they Jewish or gentiles. Paramedic work covers the needs of all human beings of all colours, ethnicities and faiths. We absolutely condemn and will never tolerate this kind of vandalism in any place of the world. We condemn it as much as our persecution by the Israeli enemy that is constantly terrorizing us and our colleagues. Our religious teaching and ethics would never tolerate such actions.”
