Labour leaks have cost the party dearly – but its dismissal of anti-black racism means it’s about to lose a lot more

JVL Introduction

In an important article on the leaded internal Labour Party report, Paula Akpan focuses on its revelations about anti-Black racism.

Diane Abbot especially, but Dawn Butler and Clive Lewis too, have been the victims of appalling racist abuse on social media. They are not alone…

Here Akpan concentrates on the racist abuse coming from the heart of the Party machine.

It isn’t pretty. As Akpan says “The malevolence is breathtaking”.

It may well cost the Party dearly in loss of support from its extensive Bame membership – and voter base.

  • The traitorous senior staff so graphically portrayed reveal their class positions – managers, not workers – and therefore opponents and oppressors of their subordinates – and in this case, opponents of the working class as a whole. They have not been chosen or vetted by working-class criteria, so it is only natural that they support a Tory government. The LP bureaucracy must be destroyed and replaced by democratically controlled teams, whose membership is replaced regularly. The Soviet Union was wrecked by reliance on and privilege accorded to specialists and bureaucrats – the LP is far weaker, but the talent amongst our membership is numerous enough to permit such democratic replacement policy. Workers’ control at Southside!
