It is hard being a Palestinian Israeli (1)
JVL Introduction
Palestinian citizens of Israel make up 21% of the population and suffer 80% of the murders. A large protest was held this week in Tel Aviv and was supported by up to 20,000 Jewish Israelis but received minimal media coverage and when it did so, that was dismissive. “This erasure says less about the protest and more about the media ecosystem itself. For years, Israeli media has either ignored the crisis of organized crime in Palestinian communities or framed it as a “cultural problem,” reinforcing racist narratives that portray Palestinians as inherently violent rather than systematically neglected. Police inaction, state abandonment, and the free operation of criminal networks are treated as background noise, if they are acknowledged at all.“
