Israel raids UNRWA office in East Jerusalem

JVL Introduction

Israeli forces have violated the “privileges and immunities” due to the United Nations Relief and and Works Agency as a UN body by raiding its East Jerusalem offices, UNRWA said.

The office had been inactive since Israel last year banned the agency’s activities in Israel. Not satisfied with leaving Palestinians in the Gaza strip and East Jerusalem without UNRWA’s vital services, police have now forcibly entered the premises backing up bailiffs carrying out a debt foreclosure order.

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio last month alleged, without any evidence, that UNRWA had “became a subsidiary of Hamas.”
