JVL Introduction

We publish below a Skwawkbox report which explains the judge’s rejection of claims made against university lecturer James Wilson by James Mendelsohn and Edward Cantor, and reproduces Wilson’s statement following the judgement.

  • An extremely dignified statement from Mr Wilson. The case shows the depths to which these ‘Friends of Israel’ will sink. But 99.9% of the British public will never hear about this case or any of the other similar cases, and mud, unfortunately, does stick..

  • This is an important judgment, entirely ignored by the corporate media, though the dispute was followed assiduously by the Jewish Chronicle and other media with the usual bias at earlier stages. Although somewhat tangential to the technical arguments in the case, the judge makes quite clear his contempt for the dehumanising of critics of Israel by fanatics who regard any kind of abuse as justified since once the victims are labeled as ‘antisemites’. Is this a sign that some judges are finally beginning to tire of the ‘antisemitism’ abuse? Thus judge Parkes:
“…. the irony (apparently lost on Mr Doran) of hurling abuse of the same dehumanising kind as was used of Jewish people by the Nazis in the 1930s”

Paragraphs 312 -314 in particular are worth reading. [Note that Mendelsohn also has first name James]
