Bard College – the debate continues
JVL Introduction
The US debate around the Bard College events shows no sign of dying off.
Supporters of Forward opinion editor Batya Ungar-Sargon are doubling down in her support, while voices opposed to her are increasingly critical.
Black Jewish activist Shahanna McKinney-Baldon (who was supposed to appear on the panel that Ungar-Sargon walked off) is now demanding an apology and a retraction of Ungar-Sargon’s piece.

“Why are you protesting the only all-Jewish panel at the conference?”
This form of sectarian prejudice typifies the Hupty Dumpty Through-The-Looking-Glass world of the re-definers of ‘antisemitism’.
The basis of antisemitic prejudice is blanket discrimination against an identified group – the same as for any other form of prejudice and bias.
The antisemitic weaponisers now adopt a new take on this prejudicial standpoint by essentially claiming that a Jew, or a collection of Jewish people should be immune from criticism (and thus permitted to behave badly) *because* they are Jewish. Horribly reminiscent of the righteousness hypocrisy behind many outbreaks of prejudicial acts throughout history, justified by exceptionalist ideas.
Obviously, this sanctions any form or irrationality or prejudice as being beyond reproach if you fall into the group defined by such bias.
Weird. Or simply political.
