All out against fascism on October 26!

JVL will be part of the Jewish Bloc joining the united national march and rally this Saturday, October 26 against the far right resurgence here and across Europe, and specifically against Tommy Robinson’s central London mobilisation.

Join the Jewish Bloc from 12 noon outside Jermyn Street Theatre, 16b Jermyn Street, SW1Y 6ST

At around 12.30 we will link up with the main march assembling on Regent Street St James and due to move off at about 1pm.

There will be speakers, music and poetry at the start of the march and again at the end point in Whitehall.

This is a vitally important counter-demonstration. It needs to be supported by everyone across the trade union and labour movement, all anti-racists, everyone who wants a fairer world for all.

Saturday’s priority is to take a stand against the division and hate being stoked by Tommy Robinson and the neo-fascist right who brought misguided people onto the streets over the summer, preaching that the problems of our unjust and unequal society are the fault of asylum seekers, refugees, migrants and other minority groups. In the long run though, their false arguments have to be countered by more than words and marches, and much more than Starmer’s tough policing and tighter border controls.

It’s no surprise that the death in jail of one of those sentenced for participating in the racist riots is being exploited by the far right to support their cause. A Labour government that has nothing to offer but more austerity, authoritarianism and slavish support for Washington’s wars leaves the field open for an openly racist Conservative Party, Reform UK and their fascist outriders.

As explained here by the Jewish Socialists’ Group:

Racism ruins lives. It is not enough for us to simply and ritually denounce racism as evil and immoral; we need to link the fight against it with the fight against poverty and neglect, for affordable housing and well-paid jobs for all, and fight against all discrimination. And we need to expose far-right myths to the very people their demagogues are targeting for support.

  • Good luck on Saturday and regards to all those who live in London and attending this. This unity is the step forward. Yaxley-Lennon and their mob are the barbarisms at the gate.

I finished watching the Channel 4 documentary last night. I applaud the Hope Not Hate and the undercover journalist for their bravery.

I do believe, strongly, though that Hope Not Hate need to concentrate on GB NEWS and TALK TV and investigate them.

Between the two, I have come to believe that the latter is the worst due to its audience -middle and upper class people; e.g. those with the money to fund the far right. The two most notable TALK TV rabble rousers, in my opinion, are Julia Hartley-Brewer and Alex Phillips.

Whilst Hartey-Brewer, has been known for years, Phillips is particularly concerning.

There are videos of her on Youtube where she is seething with anger; remarking that she is sick of Islam breathing down her neck and in an interview, and in turn, making the opinion that Muslims councils are taking over Britain.

I mention this here, as it immediately reminded me of what I learnt about the Holocaust and its origins, at secondary school, a certain 1900s conspiracy theory. And that was a red flag given that due to my job role and its responsibilities – In recent years, I have had to do mandatory training about terrorism, hate crimes and far-right indoctrination.

It is shocking that whilst many you-tube based political commentators such as Talk Left, Political Custard and Novara Media have regularly critiqued Phillips, the only published article I have found about Phillips, is from Paul Mason ( The right’s new dangerous dog-whistler knows nothing about Britishness, The New European, 19/7/2023).

This individual needs monitoring, as due to her age, 40 years old she could appeal to younger people, in addition to older generations and indoctrinate them into extremism, along with Tate and Yaxley-Lennon.

  • If ‘Hope Not Hate’ are serious about fighting racism, why are they a front group for the racist Labour Party and why did they smear one of the few pro-Palestinian politicians before the last general election ?
