B. Michael, the doyen of Israeli satirists, unleashes his vitriol on Israel’s messianic fundamentalists.
To those breeding pure red heffers for sacrifice on Temple Mount, Michael has this reminder:
“A heroic king, a magnificent Temple, animal carcasses, a myriad of trumpets and an army of priests and Levites don’t guarantee anything except catastrophe.”
But the lessons learnt are in process of being unlearnt as the “’Jewdoids’, a bizarre cult of pseudo-Jews… that rejected all the human and cultural principles of Judaism and took from it only its violent, possessive dross” insist on returning to the days of stupidity and idolatry…

I don’t understand this which sounds like a lot of mumbo-jumbo. Zionists and David Ben Gurion weren’t hung up on rituals and the sanctity of the Temple Mount. All they wanted was a new Land of Israel exclusively for Jews and a modern nation Jews could call their own. Zionists looked at all sorts of options and settled on Palestine for political expediency because Balfour and Lloyd George, steeped in Christianity, believed Jews belonged in Palestine (in preference to being in the UK) and would militarily support Zionist colonization, against the wishes of the majority of Jews. The sanctity of the Temple Mount and rituals associated with are a more recent development which has been promoted by religious zealots sounding not unlike the Zealots who challenged the Romans to a fight and lost. Where has Judaism been in the intervening years, flourishing without a Temple Mount?
