Life in Gaza under the “ceasefire”…

JVL Introduction

This journalist, living in Gaza was asked to write describing what life was like for someone “on the ground” in Gaza.  It is difficult. How do you sum up the many difficulties, the many privations and the impact this has on life?  How can you quantify what is takes to deal with the impact of Israel’s ongoing dramatic restrictions on what is allowed into the enclave and, indeed, to continue to manage without so many basics? Above all, how do you describe the unreality of a “ceasefire” that only one side upholds and the other continues to kill, maim and destroy – including destroying the evidence of their war crimes?

This is an attempt, a serious attempt providing a glimpse into the hardship that is being endured and the difficulties and time taken up dealing with things that should be straightforward.

Sometimes an individual’s experience tells more than the numbers.
