The BBC is clear that Israel is taking even more land in Gaza

JVL Introduction

BBC News Online reported in January and again on 30th July 2026 that Israel has been taking over more of the land and displacing more Palestinians. Indeed as early as November 12th 2025, the BBC reported that Israel had destroyed more than 1,500 buildings in Gaza since ceasefire.

At the “ceasefire” Israel had control of 53% of the Gaza Strip but is now erecting a barrier and controls c 66%.  BBC verify used satellite imagery, for example, showing that “(i)n some areas the earth barrier effectively moves the de facto “border” – the Yellow Line – deeper into Gaza, further increasing the deadly no-go zone for Gazans.  “One section of the embankment near the al-Mawasi camp is more than 1.5km beyond where the Yellow Line was originally mapped. Another section in Khan Younis is positioned more than 500m over it.”

Israel denies that it is taking over more land even though Netanyahu issued orders to take over 70% and satellite imagery is clear.  What it means for people in Gaza is that: “(t)he war is not over. That’s a big lie. Every day there are strikes, displacement and evictions,”.

Israel’s messages are easily rejected by evidence: “Satellite imagery shows scores of temporary shelters disappearing from the area in July”.  UNOCHA has reported that “some 30 families lost their tents in Zeitoun”.

This article is very informative and the original has two useful images that I am unable to replicate.  It would also be good to see this covered more on the BBC’s broadcast channels.
