Ex Mossad Chief is “ashamed to be a Jew”
JVL Introduction
Those of us who have been active in support of the Palestinian people and their rights, to justice, to equality and to full recognition in accordance with international law may be impatient, frustrated at how long it is taking for more people to see the truth (I know I am.) However, there are signs of change and these are to be welcomed; we can only hope and keep campaigning for these signs to become a catalyst for the change so desperately needed. Israel is becoming seen more and more as a pariah state and ex Mossad leader, Tamir Pardo, said that he was “ashamed to be a Jew”. Prado goes against the much vaunted and overused IHRA Working definition of antisemitism and makes comparisons between Nazi Germany and what is happening to Palestinians today and clearly says that the existential threat to Israel is not Iran but the violent settlers operating with the backing of the State and its apparatus. This is a link to a 13 minute video of him with by other former security chiefs in the West Bank. It is an important watch and his change of heart has led to determination to show others the reality. There are other shifts too and we will post about these too.

“ashamed to be a Jew.”
What he chooses to say is, of course, a matter for him.
But I am somewhat uncomfortable with him saying that.
I think that “ashamed to be an Israeli” would be much better.
I agree with Tony, ashamed to be an Israeli fits better.
It would be a bit special and interesting if you could have a conversation with him, digging deep into what he’s actually thinking, my guess is, he’s not at all happy where Zionists have taken Israel, so why would he call them Jews?
If he’s been watching the videos of Israeli’s out protesting against their Government, he would have seen Jews being beaten up by the IDF, so badly that they stopped protesting. That alone makes it really difficult to understand where he is coming from.
