Israeli citizens forcibly moved to make way for a Jewish Town

The experiences of the Bedouin people of Umm Al Khair in the Southern West Bank and those of the Bedouin living in the Negev have many similarities, despite the fact that the Negev Bedouin are full citizens of Israel. “Members of the Abu al-Kiyan Bedouin tribe, which has lived in the Negev since the 19th century, were moved to Wadi Hiran in 1956 by the military rule Israel imposed on its Arab citizens at that time”. Despite being forced to live there, the village, like most other Bedouin villages remained unrecognised for nearly six decades. This has meant no security as well as no electricity or piped water. On November 14th, Um Al Hiran was demolished and its people sent to a town where they will be unable to live as they have been accustomed to live for generations. All this to make way for a Jewish town for which there seems to have been many other possible sites to say nothing of a town where Jewish and Palestinian citizens might both live.
The Jerusalem Post notes that under the policy of National Security Minister, Ben-Gvir, there has been a 400% increase in demolition orders just since the beginning of 2024.
