The IHRA working definition not fit for purpose

By Richard Kuper

The claim by Lord Pickles, reported in the Jewish Chronicle, raises the abusive application of the IHRA Working Definition of Antisemitism to new heights.

Lord Pickles alleges that a parliamentary motion, up for debate soon, “unambiguously falls within IHRA’s definition of antisemitism”.!

It is no less than a claim the definition rules out our right to discuss, in any shape or form, pro-Israel influence on our politics and our democracy.

Liberty on what the Court of Appeal judgment on Palestine Action means

By Richard Kuper

What’s happened so far with the Palestine Action case? In June 2025, members of direct-action protest group Palestine Action broke into RAF base Brize Norton in Oxfordshire and spray-painted two military planes red. The following month, then-Home Secretary Yvette Cooper proscribed the group as a terrorist organisation. The ban has made it a terror offence to … Continued

It matters that Israel is mislabelling settlement goods

By Leah Levane

The UK and almost every European government agree that Israeli settlements in the West Bank, East Jerusalem and in the Golan Heights are illlegal under international law. They do, however, have special trade agreements with Israel. The preferential treatment is not supposed to apply to produce from settlements but there is clear evidence of significant mislabelling of settlement produce as Israeli , thereby avoiding the additional tariffs.

Stolen land sale – “The Greater Israel Real Estate Event”

By Richard Kuper

Despite protest, a London synagogue successfully hosted “The Great Israeli Real Estate Event” which included selling property in settlements, illegal under international law.

Below we post some related social media posts, video proof of stolen lands being offered, and the MPs letter of protest in which more than 101 British MPs and members of the House of Lords signed a joint letter to Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper protesting and demanding the cancellation of the event (it wasn’t).

We also include proof that the Board of Deputies of British Jews’ assurances that no properties beyond the green line would be on sale were false.

The Gaza-fication of the West Bank

By Richard Kuper

We must not allow ourselves to become inured to what is happening in the West Bank.

As these two articles in Haaretz make clear, it is nothing less than an attempt as the Gaza-fictation of the territory.

Veteran Israeli journalist Amira Hass has no hesitation in calling those leading this activity the Jewish Ku Klux Klan. And they enjoy the help and protection of the Israeli army.

Belfast and Palestine Action: hypocrisy and terrorism

By Richard Kuper

George Monbiot is spot on in this devastating critique of government inconsistency and hypocrisy, as the Court of Appeal rules the government’s proscription of Palestine Action as a terror organisation is lawful.

The government’s own definition of terrorism could have been coined to describe the rioting in Belfast: “the use or threat” of actions designed to “intimidate the public” for the purpose of “advancing a political, religious, racial or ideological cause”.

But it isn’t.

Instead over three thousand people have already been arrested for peacefully holding up slogans saying, “I support Palestine Action”…

Palestinian Recognition and rights of refugees

By Leah Levane

This is another of the excellent contributions at the recent conference “Recognition is the Beginning” organised by the Britain Palestine Conference. This 20 minute speech focuses on the experiences and rights of the Palestinian Diaspora, their representation and politics.

Terrorism: “the fire is inside the house”

By Leah Levane

There is considerable support for settler violence, after a brutal attack on Huwara at the end of May, a pundit on Israel’s Channel 12 said: “Huwara should have been wiped out a long time ago … it should face the same fate as Jenin’s refugee camp, Beit Hanoun [in Gaza] and Bint Jbeil [in southern Lebanon].”

UK synagogues: it is illegal to sell land under occupation

By Leah Levane

Claims that “the Great Israel Real Estate Event” held in a London synagogue was only selling property within the Green Line were proved false:they “had all the booklets and papers for it but couldn’t get them out because the police had said in order for the event to go ahead they couldn’t advertise properties illegal under international law” .

The legacy of Empire that led to the violence in Belfast and beyond

By Leah Levane

“Before a single brick is thrown, before a single car is set alight, the ideological work has already been done. The mob in Glasgow, the mob in Belfast, are not improvising. They are executing a script written for them by people, nay puppetmasters, dressed in suits they will never be able to afford.” (Franz Fanon)
