Hagai El-Ad, Israeli journalist and director general of Israel’s premier human-rights organisation, B’Tselem, for a decade from 2013, writes about the idea of “transfer” in Zionism and the Zionist left’s intransigent opposition to it in the nineties.
That was then.
Now he predicts, in the face of threats of expelling “the Arabs”, called euphemistically “voluntary emigration”, it won’t do anything to stop it.
El-ad points out that Zionist left’s actions over the years, (“our” actions, as he writes as part of the left), speak loud and clear, that the intransigence was always phoney. Just look at 1948 and 1967.
And he asks, as preparations for expulsion from Gaza City are being finalised: “Is there really any doubt that we won’t lie under the wheels of the trucks, but rather drive them?”
