The Most Unequal Borough in Britain – a review

JVL Introduction

The scandalous class inequality in Britain is nowhere better exemplified than in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea.

Home to the horrendous disaster at Grenfell Towers, and to phenomenal poverty, a Tory Councillor once named it “the richest Council in the universe” – with the average house price over £1.4m and over 9,000 households on the waiting list.

The list of inequalities is endless, as is the list of Council failures, chronicled here by Emma Dent Coad, the first and only Labour MP for the constituency from 2017-2019.

Her record of supporting the poor and dispossessed in the borough is impeccable.

And Starmer’s Labour Party has rewarded her by excluding her from the long-list for parliamentary candidates for the next election!

  • Emma Dent Coad sounds like a real Labour representative, caring committed and capable, possibly even a Socialist. She’d get my vote if I lived in her borough.

  • Emma Dent Coad is an example of the Socialist activist that we desperately need in the House of Commons.
In working the exclude her, the poison of the anti-democratic Labour Right is exposed for all to see.
Our party has been colonised by the representatives of the Rich and Powerful …. For the Few – Not the many.
