“The Mohammedans are taking over”
JVL Introduction
- “Islamist violence and threats polluting our country”
- “Islamist aggression which has infected the streets of London and other towns/cities”
- “Tower Bridge has been taken over by the Mohammedans”
- “By the very definition of Islam, by the very definition of being a Muslim voter, you’re going to be anti-Jewish.”
- “ISLAMIST INSURRECTION PLOT BUSTED. The Palestine Solidarity Campaign plotted to force parliament into lockdown”
These are just a few examples of recent inflammatory statements unashamedly broadcast or published by right-wing politicians and commentators, included in the compilation below. It has been put together by a JVL member who prefers to remain anonymous.
It reveals a deeply alarming readiness to employ openly racist language linking a minority population, Muslims, with pollution, infection, violence and threat, while denying that there is any such thing as Islamophobia. The intention seems clear: to demonise Muslims and connect the threat they allegedly represent to a political viewpoint – solidarity with Palestinians – that those quoted are determined to crush.
The author, who intends to update the list as examples accumulate, calls for proof of the bloodcurdling allegations made, fully expecting that no such evidence will be forthcoming.

A Compilation of Lunacy
Genuinely racist or anti-Muslim slurs are very rare in British public debate – which is why, when they happen, they need to be dealt with quickly. (Spectator editor Fraser Nelson, 24 February 2024)
—
What follows is a compilation of statements, united by their idiocy and foolishness, about public protests, recent events in Parliament, and Muslims in general. They reveal a widespread contempt for evidence, and rationality, among persons who hold distinguished offices and enjoy unusual prominence; readers may find that some of the statements constitute simple bigotry. Data on broader attitudes will be found at the end of this paper. Those interested in fighting hatred and authoritarianism will, presumably, take note. This compilation may be extended as new statements are made.
For now, we await the proof—not mere allegations—which demonstrates that parliamentary convention was recently violated because of Islamist threats, and not for any other reason. We await the proof that Islamists and antisemites control Britain, or London’s mayor. We await the proof that the protests against Israel’s conduct in Gaza are motivated by fanaticism and racism rather than the compassionate desire to prevent atrocities. And we suspect that we shall be waiting for a long time: perhaps forever.
If we could address ourselves to the intellects and consciences of the individuals quoted, which we recognise to be an ambitious project, we would ask them to consider what consequences their utterances are likely to have, both for the welfare of British democracy, and for the welfare of the Muslim minority of this country.
But most urgently, we cannot lose sight of what lies behind this pernicious nonsense. The people of Gaza are being massacred in what the International Court of Justice considers a plausible genocide. They face indiscriminate bombing and the flattening of their homes; they face suffocation under the rubble; they face starvation and disease; and who are the extremists? Not the backers of the plausible genocide in both major parties; not those who sell arms to Israel and have suspended aid for Palestinians; not those who have ignored the desperate pleas of every major humanitarian organisation; not those who have opposed all efforts to hold Israel accountable, legally or diplomatically; no! The extremists are the people who, revolted by this horror, have taken to the streets to demand that our government ends its support for these crimes; the extremists are the people who—curse on the swinish multitude!—will not tolerate the wanton slaughter unfolding in front of us, and demand a ceasefire. We very much doubt that the most inventive minds could devise a perversion of reason and justice greater than this.
“Even the police are scared”
So: after months of horrifying and rising anti-semitism, hate marches every week, Parliament buckling under Islamist threats, growing Islamist intimidation at a local level, and slogans urging the destruction of Jewish people beamed onto our national monuments, our mainstream media decides to discuss – Islamophobia. (Founder and director of the New Culture Forum, Peter Whittle, 26 February 2024)
Our elected politicians and democracy [are] being intimidated and harassed by a radical, activist mob … The highest rates of anti-Semitic hate for decades, leaving British Jews living in fear and wondering if they should just leave the country … The fact we have now spent five months watching thousands of people glorifying terrorist atrocities and, by supporting Hamas, implicitly calling for similar atrocities as those on October 7th to take place in the future … Our major opposition party, the Labour party, increasingly in thrall not to the majority of ordinary British people but to minority sectional interests … we now have a political, cultural and media class that is, very clearly, incapable of saying out loud what all these things have in common … It is the growing threat from radical, violent Islamism. It is the growing threat this barbaric, medieval, and backward ideology poses to our institutions, our values, our fellow citizens, our ways of life, and our rule of law … the rise of radical Islamism is being enabled and encouraged both by a radicalising woke left, whose obsession with identity politics and anti-West dogma is giving Islamists a helping hand, and by the specific policy of mass immigration, which is importing people who, put simply, hate who we are. (Academic Matt Goodwin, 26 February 2024)
Many in the media have asked me about Lee Anderson’s comments [about Sadiq Khan]. The truth is that Lee speaks for millions of people who are appalled by what is happening to our country. Between them, this gutless government and the Mayor of London appear to have lost control of our streets. The projecting of a vile antisemitic slogan on our Houses of Parliament last week is a shocking illustration of the breakdown of law and order. In his role as London’s Police and Crime Commissioner, Sadiq Khan is responsible for London’s security. Along with Sir Mark Rowley, he has totally failed in that capacity. Week in week out, he and the police have allowed pro Hamas, hate filled anti semitic marches to continue. I first called for these ugly demonstrations to be banned on Oct 11th, having seen first hand the awful behaviour on the first march on Oct 9th. It took place before Israel had even responded to the horrors of October 7th. Fast forward to today and – thanks to woefully weak leadership on the part of our authorities – extreme Islamists are creating a sense of fear and intimidation in our capital. With every failure to crack down on their behaviour, they become emboldened. The Jewish community is scared; Londoners are scared; MPs are scared; the Speaker is scared. Even the police appear too scared to do what they are supposed to maintain the peace in our capital: arrest those who demonstrably break the law. Lee Anderson may have been clumsy in his precise choice of words, but his sentiments are supported by millions of British citizens, including myself. Never has Westminster and the craven left leaning Establishment been so out of touch with ordinary people. (Reform UK leader Richard Tice, 26 February 2024)
The events of recent weeks are but the latest in an emerging pattern which should not be tolerated. Legitimate protests hijacked by extremists to promote and glorify terrorism, elected representatives verbally threatened and physically, violently targeted, and antisemitic tropes beamed onto our own Parliament building. And in Parliament this week a very dangerous signal was sent that this sort of intimidation works. It is toxic for our society and our politics and is an affront to the liberties and values we hold dear here in Britain. (Prime minister Rishi Sunak, 25 February 2024)
Both France and Germany have banned pro-Palestine rallies, partly out of concern for their Jewish communities. Why does the UK continue to permit marches which cause widespread fear, spread hateful messages, jeopardise community relations and cause immense nuisance? (Commentator Allison Pearson, 25 February 2024)
there is no comparison whatsoever between anti-Semitism and ‘Islamophobia’. The former is the world’s oldest hatred and has caused the deaths of millions. The latter is an idea dreamt up by Islamists and anti-racist NGOs to stymie criticism of Islam. (Commentator Brendan O’Neill, 25 February 2024)
how has this mob, which includes Islamists and far-Left activists, become so powerful that its actions made MPs afraid to vote with their consciences? Why was the Speaker, Sir Lindsay Hoyle, so willing to compromise himself and his reputation like this? … Seeing the baying mob outside made me feel wary of leaving the safety of my office. (Tory MP Anna Firth, 25 February 2024)
Our greatest landmarks taken over: Big Ben, Tower Bridge. Parliament pathetically cowed. London hijaked ever weekend. Councils, local constituency events invaded. Police facilitating it all. Establishment response? Quick, condemn Lee Anderson! (Peter Whittle, 25 February 2024)
threats of violence from Islamists caused Parliament to abandon its own rules (Commentator Konstantin Kisin, 24 February 2024)
This is what we are up against. Coercion of MPs by pro-Palestine groups, intimidation, threats. If this was the “far right” they’d all be under arrest by now. (Allison Pearson, 24 February 2024)
Even now they can’t do it. ‘Anti-Semitism’ is hatred of Jews. ‘Islamophobia’ is a crock term invented to stop criticism of Islamic extremism. Including Muslim anti-Semitism. ‘Anti-Semitism’ and ‘Islamophobia’ are not both forms of ‘extremism.’ (Commentator Douglas Murray, 24 February 2024)
It’s become a great tradition in UK public life to not confront Islamic extremism. Instead, each time there’s an attack or threat we sacrifice someone who said something about the threat. I see this season Lee Anderson is the votive offering. Brilliant. That’ll solve everything. (Douglas Murray, 24 February 2024)
Tower Bridge has been taken over by the Mohammedans. Another display of dominance by the conquering mob, and yet more two-tiered policing from the Met. A Mohammedan Mayor of London and a liberal Commissioner of Police of the Metropolis. London is lost. (Commentator and former GB News presenter Calvin Robinson, 24 February 2024)
Do not let the Lee Anderson comments distract us from what is the key point since Oct 7th. We have a major problem with radical Islamism in Britain. Do not let the political & media class take us back to the ridiculous gaslighting that followed the murder of Sir David Amess. (Matt Goodwin, 24 February 2024)
WANTED: THE MET. Last seen on Armistice Day, putting the baton into patriots & veterans. Completely missing in action since, esp weekly pro-Hamas marches, failing to stop soaring antisemitic abuse & protect Parliament. Cash reward: Nine bob note (Commentator and GB News presenter Martin Daubney, 24 February 2024)
ISLAMIST INSURRECTION PLOT BUSTED. The Palestine Solidarity Campaign plotted to force parliament into lockdown on Wednesday by getting “thousands” of its supporters inside to “ramp up pressure on MPs”. Cue zero outrage from BBC, liberals, Labour etc (Commentator and GB News presenter Martin Daubney, 24 February 2024)
It must be terribly distressing to British Jews … I can’t think of another group to whom we would allow this level of distress … There is a threatening atmosphere going on … The Met [police] should use their powers to stop these protests. (Lawyer and commentator Steven Barrett, 23 February 2024).
You are the most divisive @MayorofLondon we have ever had, captain community cohesion. You ignored the months of Anti Semitic, terrorist supporting hate marches, which culminated in parliament being set upon by a mob, and genocidal slogans being projected onto Londons landmarks … We want our city back. (Reclaim Party leader Laurence Fox, to Sadiq Khan, 23 February 2024)
I don’t actually believe that the Islamists have got control of our country, but what I do believe is they’ve got control of Khan and they’ve got control of London and they’ve got control of Starmer as well … [Khan has] actually given our capital city away to his mates. (Tory MP Lee Anderson, 23 February 2024)
If you do not think Islamist extremists are riding high at the moment you aren’t paying attention … To put it gently, vicious, Jew-hating Islamists are over-represented in the ‘pro-Palestine’ movement … with Hoyle’s shameful giving in to Islamist threats and intimidation this week, we saw Westminster ditching democratic norms and rewriting parliamentary procedures in a craven act of capitulation. (Spiked editor Tom Slater, 23 February 2024)
Looking the other way as open displays of antisemitic bile are flaunted on the streets of the capital has merely emboldened the Islamist mob who are now openly threatening MPs who fail to do their bidding. (Allison Pearson, 23 February 2024)
Why did #Police standby and let racist pro #palestian protestors project antisemitic slogans on #BigBen The @metpoliceuk are a disgrace (Commentator and GB News presenter Andrew Pierce, 23 February 2024)
I worry that Islamism is now deep-rooted into communities all across the UK. Our pathetic establishment has deliberately ignored the threat, right up until it comes knocking at the door – they enabled its growth, against all warnings. Zero-tolerance is urgently required. (Reform UK spokesman Rupert Lowe, 23 February 2024)
Sickening – all allowed and enabled under a Conservative Government. They’ve appeased the Islamists for far too long. We need politicians who will stand up to this poisonous threat and put British interests above all else. This is all going to get worse, a lot worse. (Rupert Lowe, 22 February 2024)
Labour enabled and encouraged mass immigration, which has directly resulted in Islamist violence and threats polluting our country. Now they’re experiencing the consequences of that appeasement. Will they admit their mistake? Not a chance. (Rupert Lowe, 22 February 2024)
t is time that the police stamped down on Islamist aggression which has infected the streets of London and other towns/cities. We must stop tolerating such poisonous hate being spouted across OUR country. If these thugs don’t like it here, they are more than welcome to leave. (Rupert Lowe, 22 February 2024)
Speaker Hoyle’s actions last night are obviously serious and an example of the weakness & broken authority at our political centre. But the far greater issue here is growing Islamist intimidation & Muslim sectarianism, and its appeasement. This will be sidelined, just as the Islamist murder of MP Sir David Amess was turned by parliament into a discussion on the dangers of social media. (Peter Whittle, 22 February 2024)
Most British people couldn’t give two hoots about procedural niceties, but they do care about a baying mob, pro-Palestinian supporters … but also Islamist ideologists who are exploiting it all, people who are threatening MPs, threatening Jewish people on the streets, and anyone who disagrees with them … those people were allowed to hold sway, effectively forcing changes in Parliament. (Commentator and Talk TV presenter Julia Hartley-Brewer, 22 February 2024)
We have allowed our streets to be dominated by Islamist extremists, and British Jews and others to be too intimidated to walk through central London week after week. Now we are allowing Islamist extremists to intimidate British Members of Parliament. This is wrong. It has to stop. (Tory MP and former immigration minister Robert Jenrick, 22 February 2024)
By the 2029 general election we will have a radical Islamic party represented in Westminster. (Founder of the Reform Party and GB News presenter Nigel Farage, 22 February 2024)
What should outrage everyone is not Hoyle’s intentions, but that the House of Commons’ business is now being determined by thugs who physically intimidate MPs, attack their offices, threaten violence if their views aren’t adhered to. Ask any MP about their social media or email accounts and they will tell you they are a stream of bile. (Commentator Sebastian Payne, 22 February 2024)
The truth is that the Islamists, the extremists and the anti-Semites are in charge now. They have bullied the Labour Party, they have bullied our institutions, and now they have bullied our country into submission. (Tory MP and former home secretary Suella Braverman, 22 February 2024)
We need to wake up to what we are sleep-walking into: a ghettoised society where free expression and British values are diluted. Where sharia law, the Islamist mob and anti-Semites take over communities. We need to overcome the fear of being labelled Islamophobic and speak truthfully. Enough of the hand-wringing and apologies. Turning a blind eye to fanatics has got us into this terrible situation: it needs to stop. (Suella Braverman, 22 February 2024)
In the end more important than the Speaker is the reaction of Keir Starmer to Islamist intimidation, which was to back down, reward the unacceptable, and in the process destroy the impartial institutions that make our system work (Tory prospective parliamentary candidate Nick Timothy, 22 February 2024)
Chaos & security risk to MPs is due to PM & Met chief allowed hateful antisemitic marches to continue after Oct 7th. If had been banned, as I called for, pro Hamas thugs would not have run riot over these months. Weak gutless leadership has led to this (Reform UK leader Richard Tice, 22 February 2024)
Why don’t these people protest about the far greater numbers of deaths in other warzones currently? All such deaths are tragic and horrific. Answer: because they are just deeply antisemitic. No ifs, no buts (Richard Tice, 21 February 2024)
Most of the measures taken by Keir Starmer to keep the lid on antisemitism in the Labour Party has been cosmetic, simply because a 30 per cent vote in constituencies like Rochdale are antisemitic. By the very definition of Islam, by the very definition of being a Muslim voter, you’re going to be anti-Jewish … The fact is that the Muslim vote is basically the Labour Party’s client vote, and they are the tail that is wagging the dog. (Commentator and former political editor of The Sun, Trevor Kavanagh, 14 February 2024)
This unparalleled psychotic onslaught by Hamas has nothing to do with a political cause … This is plain and simple historic Islamic bloodlust, passed down through the generations from birth. An ever-present cancer, lurking in the shadows, now stands fully exposed, its medieval ambition shocking to the core – the genocide of the Jewish people. (Jewish News editor Richard Ferrer, 10 October 2023; ‘Islamic bloodlust’ was subsequently changed to ‘Islamist bloodlust’)
We need to face reality: much of Muslim culture is in the grip of a death cult that sacralises bloodshed. Not all, but many Muslims are brainwashed by it. That is a big part of the problem (Jewish Chronicle editor Jake Wallis Simons, October 2023; the tweet was subsequently deleted)
According to polling data, 60 per cent of Conservative Party members believe ‘Islam is generally a threat to Western civilisation’; 54 per cent of Conservative Party members believe ‘Islam is generally a threat to the British way of life’. (YouGov, 2019)
In 2020, the Equality and Human Rights Commission declined to investigate Islamophobia in the Conservative Party after the Party decided to initiate its own inquiry.
According to survey data, ‘Muslims are the UK’s second “least liked” group, after Gypsy and Irish Travellers: 25.9% of the British public feel negative towards Muslims (with 9.9% feeling “very negative”). This compares with 8.5% for Jewish people, 6.4% for black people, and 8.4% for white people. Only Gypsy and Irish Travellers are viewed more negatively by the British public, with 44.6% of people viewing this group negatively’.
Tell Mama recorded 2,010 Islamophobic incidents between 7 October and 7 February.
Funny, isn’t it, how this has all suddenly blown up since last Wednesday out of nowhere. If you didn’t know it already after the relentless smearing and demonisation of Jeremy and the left, it’s surely clear to anyone that isn’t blinded by the abhorrent and malignant propaganda that we are living in a fascist state.
This attack on peaceful protesters is highly reminiscient of Nazi propaganda, and has been completely conjured up out of thin air. Peter Oborne puts it all in perspective:

Many thanks to your JVL member for putiing all this poison together. We really REALLY need to get shod of these people out of our reality. And their propaganda machine, the MSM. And to do THAT we have to wake everyone up to who and what they are.
Without them we could transform our world. WITH them, we are destined for extinction, one way or the other.
Thank you for the link to the Double Down News Video; it is also a good summary and analysis.
Isn’t there a law against Hate Speech? Shouldn’t these individuals be charged with it?
I suggest that people insert ‘Jews’ or ‘Jewish’ instead of ‘Muslims’ or ‘Islamic’ to get the full flavour of these comments. And it is, sad to say, often Jewish people or Zionists who are in the forefront of this.
Rabbi Jonathan Sacks, praised to the sky for his ‘intellect’ was an ardent supporter of Douglas Murray and we know from the suspension of Gary Mond as senior VP of the Board of Deputies that this runs deep in the Jewish community. Zionism is in the forefront of Islamaphobia in this and other countries
The mad rush to establish another Fox news in this country is already virtually bankrupt
Have a bet on GBeebies going belly up first
I’m grateful that someone has taken the painful trouble collate these heinous examples. I can add another, that Melanie Phillips (in The Times, I think) said there is no equivalence between antisemitism Islamophobia as antisemitism is always genocidal whereas Islamophobia is prejudice.
This is the conclusion to her piece in The Times: ” “Islamophobia” is not equivalent to antisemitism. It facilitates it. Derailing the parliamentary process last week as a result of threats to MPs over their attitude to a foreign conflict was an inflection point in the encroachment by intimidatory, radical Islamism. That danger must be called out and dealt with. To equate any such call with the Jew-hatred at the theological core of this menacing ideology is as self-destructive as it is obscene.”
Of course this demonisation of one group is horribly familiar, not least that much the same was said about Jewish immigrants more than a century ago.
Maybe because I only view Al Jazeera that I hardly recognize any of the names above.
And it was reported on BBC ‘Today’ (29th Feb 2024) that Rishi Sunak said that we are seeing the rise of ‘mob rule’ and instructed the Police to act more firmly….we are seeing a rise in activism, but compared to the ‘Miners Strike’ its child’s play. There were more people arrested at Glastonbury than on all the marches to stop the genocide in Gaza. They are getting frightened…
