The Blairite Roots of the Leaked Labour Report

JVL Introduction

An insightful analysis of the extreme levels of sabotage and foul play revealed in Labour’s leaked report.

Grace Blakeley argues that the basis of this reaction can be traced back to the Blairite hollowing out of the Labour Party which transformed it “into an appendage of the state, almost entirely unmoored from sites of working-class power in wider society”.

Can we transform it into an open, participatory, democratic, grassroots party that socialists can be proud of?

And, just as much to the point, is this what Keir Starmer wants?

The Blairite Roots of the Leaked Labour Report

The conduct revealed by the leaked Labour report isn’t just a few bad apples – it’s the result of a Blairite project to hollow out the Labour Party and put power in the hands of right-wing bureaucrats.

  • An excellent analysis.

Take another angle, and the impotence of the current left is also revealed, with its factionalism and inability to grasp that the ownership of the capital asset of *power* is as heady a motivation as the acquisition of simple material resource. It’s the link between all non-democratic regimes, whatever their label.

So – while the real possessors of that capital asset continue to beaver away in single-minded fashion, the ‘left’ retreats into sloganising in the pursuit of enemies rather than the creation of allies.

  • Are we meant to be impressed by the Establishment’s reward of a knighthood for Keir Starmer’s role in the CPS? Charles Menenez killing, Ian Tomlinson’s killing, Julian Assange’s prosecution and other murky connections with the Security Services. I find it hard to believe our membership voted for this Leadership. Did they?
I am encouraged by a Broad Left initiative. We may have differences but we can act as a United Front against a return to Blairism and in a fight for socialist policies grounded in the interests of the working class. The present pandemic crisis and immanent climate crisis makes this challenge more urgent than ever. Join us Keir Starmer in the promises you made to continue the manifestos under Jeremy Corbyn. Or you will face opposition.

  • New Labour ‘ Is Nothing but A Political Party Was Usurped By Tories Who Would Use It As ” An Overspill” Should The Tories Every Lose Power or Influence ‘Neoliberalism’ Is By Nature Crony capitalism’ An Anathema To Democratic Socialism’ … i.e. Didn’t Thatcher Once Say” New Labour Was My Greatest Creation”? Personally Speaking ‘ We Either Drive Them Out Of Our Once Proud Movement ‘ Or Create An Alternative Forward Looking Socialist Party? One Thing’s For Sure’ We All Know Who Loses In The End …US!!

  • I do hope the people responsible for this are prosecuted by any means possible. It seems like criminal activity to me. They perverted the 2017 election result. They’ve perverted democracy in this country. They have ruined the Labour Party. I can’t see me remaining a member after this.

  • The 2017 manifesto is inescapable, but that wont stop them trying
Just as I had no time for extremists on both sides of Brexit debate, I have less time for any member who has walked away from the party
At least do the maths, we have the numbers, so let’s see what’s occurring over next 6 months
Keir wont last if he does not address the challenge
