Oxford Union resist threats over Palestinian author’s moving speech
JVL Introduction
The Oxford Union has always prided itself on open and even controversial debates but it seems the Union’s Trustees are not happy with a debate held last year where Palestinian author and founder of Playgrounds for Palestine spoke. They do not want the video of the whole event published. The students are standing firm. The video was edited to remove 73 seconds of her speech even though “(t)here was nothing illegal in the speech and no one was contacted by the police after the debate – including the speakers,” a senior union official said on condition of anonymity.
The shortened video is included at the end of this article; it is still very moving but we need to be able to see her full contribution.

Wow, she said it all so well. I hope all the Zionists in the room, and outside, get to hear this brilliant speech.
What a powerful speech speaking truth to power. What is wrong with hoping all people in the area should live in peace with equal rights?
