In this piece, Hirsch addresses the stance of the organisation “Democrat Majority for Israel” (DMFI) and specifically its attacks on fellow Democrat politicians who stand up for the rights of Palestinians, arguing that DMFI is hate mongering.

“No mainstream politician, ” he writes, ” has the courage to stand up to DMFI’s hate mongering. That’s the power of hasbara culture. Who wants to be thought of as being on the side of the enemies of Israel?”

The influence and impact of “hasbara” may take different forms in different countries, but is certainly something with which those standing for justice for Palestinian across the world are familiar.
