Geoffrey Bindman & Jenny Manson on “Not the Andrew Marr Show”
JVL Introduction
Geoffrey Bindman has had a distinguished career as a human-rights lawyer in Britain. He was legal adviser to the Race Relations Board and thereafter until 1983 to the Commission for Racial Equality.
He contributed a highly critical introduction to the JVL/Verso book published last year How the EHRC Got it so Wrong: Antisemitism and the Labour Party.
Jenny Manson is Co-Chair of Jewish Voice for Labour.
Both appeared on Crispin Flintoff’s Not the Andrew Marr Show on Sunday 19th February 2023.
Clips of their contributions have now been posted on Youtube and are accessible through the links below.

Here is the discussion with Jenny, focusing on the recent media attacks on JVL:
Wonderful to hear facts spoken, not lies.
The EHRC, set up by Tony Blair to do what exactly? What are its terms of reference? In its initial statement into its investigation into Labour Party proceedures it states that “it suspects” that the Labour Party may have broken the law. Why does it suspect this, just because two ‘active campaigning groups’ submitted selected various anonymous and confidential complaints; why use evidence from such a limited source?
“Equality, I spoke their word, quite clear no doubt somehow……….” but who decides? This not about morality nor equality, it is about Law, but un-elected barristers from one or two London based law firms, are instructed by Boris Johnson’s Tory gov’t to form a panel to make a legal judement on Jeremy Corbyn’s Labour Party because someone has a suspicion? This is not Law, it is Politics.
Who should have the power to decide & define Human Rights? The ‘Great and the Good’ have taken it upon themselves to be the unquestioned final arbiters and nothing to do with us. Does every individual have exactly the same Human Rights in Law or does Society impose a quota system as a criteria of Equality and a moral compass orchestrated by MSM?
It is hard to believe that Sir Geoffrey Bindman is ninety.
Let’s assume for a moment that Ken and Pam win their judicial review and even the two cases of supposed ‘illegality’ implicating an entire party falls apart and thus much of the justification for Corbyn’s suspension by Starmer – I doubt if the British media would even be bothered to report it. We sometimes make the mistake of thinking that reason and logical argument counts for anything with our media and political establishment. I would say to Jenny Manson though, you are not alone, along with all the other brave and principled comrades. I wish you all the best and will support you all the way. Solidarity!
Chris, I really do think the best ways to counter the non-reporting you and I anticipate from the UK national media is to plan in advance how to publicise the news in the provincial press, the faiths’ newsletters and any international press we can interest.
Could JVL act as the co-ordinating arm for any such effort? What we’d need is a JVL “post box” to receive a Google derived “safe search” list of the contact details of all the provincial and faiths’ press who might take suitable press releases. We’d also need writers to “tweak” the press releases slightly to suit various categories of press. For example, most readers of the provincial press will know very little about the Labour party, EHRC and so on – they’ll need to be given a brief amount of basic information if they’re to make sense of what they read.
