How (not) to tackle antisemitism in the Age of Boris
JVL Introduction
Robert A.H.Cohen pours scorn on the notion that the general election result represented a crushing of the antisemites in our midst!
While dismissing the CAA extremists and the absurdities of people like Uri Geller and Melanie Philips, he also has little time for the selective outrage of the Board of Deputies.
But most of all, he is dismissive of the false solutions now offered to the real problem of antisemitism: banning BDS and spouting the IHRA definition, which makes combatting antisemitism little more than an adjunct to the defence of Israel at any cost.

This is a good article, but I have two comments: firstly, I don’t think it is right to use the term “schizophrenia” (or any mental illness or disability) as a perjorative term. In any case, holding two contradictory opinions at the same time is an anachronistic understanding of schizophrenia.
Secondly “why champion IHRA and BDS which are already creating barriers” should surely read “anti-BDS”.
I have ordered a sample of ’72 virgins’ to see what he said for myself, SEVEN times, each time Amazon says it has downloaded it to my kindle, it has never arrived. I ordered it again yesterday along with four other sample books, the four arrived, 72 Virgins did not. What is Amazon playing at?
Excellent article. The CAA are not the only ones responsible for the sheer hatred and constant anti-Semitism claims against Jeremy Corbyn and the Labour Party. The Jewish Labour Movement which sprung from the ashes of Poale Zion, with the sole intent of stopping Corbyn from becoming PM, are responsible for a lot of bullying and harassment on social media. They especially loved to target left wing Jewish people which to my mind constitutes anti-Semitic behaviour.
Many, many thanks for another erudite article.
Uri Gellar is a deluded idiot if he thinks bending spoons made it so labour didnt win the election. As for Melanie Phillips saying no islamaphobia that is just ludicrous. There is always going to be prejudice against any people who for whatever reason are not the same as the average brit. We are all human beings and should all get on with each other. That is what I liked about Jereny Corbyn he acknowledged that each and every one of us are of worth. Unfortunately now the hope the dream has been extinguished there is no possibility of that. I do think the way a man has been treated as anti semetic and he is not will not bode well for jewish people. Under Boris he does not have the same moral compass and will be offensive with impunity. Rather it should be him that should be taken to task but it wont happen. He will make light of his offensiveness whilst assuring he does take it very seriously. I dont think.
