Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya: a Palestinian Janusz Korcsak

JVL Introduction

Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya is well remembered for his courageous work doing his utmost to tend to patients at Kamal Adnan Hospital in the north of Gaza until the last possible moment.  He has been incarcerated since December 2024 without charges or any due process. His courage and the cruel treatment meted out to him by Israel has caused great concern across the world, including within Israel as this doctor illustrates in her article below.

She likens him to another brave doctor, Janusz Korczak who ran an orphanage in the Warsaw Ghetto and refused to leave the children, even though he had opportunity to do so.  He walked with the children into the cattle cars and into death.  We can only hope that Dr. Safiya’s fate will not be the same and that our efforts succeed, although, worryingly, Israel’s fury at the growing opposition to its actions may make things worse for him.

Below the article is Israel’s official, literally incredible, statement on their incarceration of Dr. Safiya.

Ha'aretz

The director of Gaza’s Kamal Adwan Hospital refused to abandon his patients, even after his son was killed and he himself was wounded. Today, he is being held without charge in an Israeli prison. If Israel allows him to die there, it will annihilate a Palestinian symbol of heroism

The consequences for Isreal and all who support this zionist gov must be spelt out world wide by all everywhere, MSM BBC ITV all newspapers or they are morally complicit in what is going on.It is pure evil and beyond comprehension that Israel is allowed to commit these war crimes and genocide and the so called civilised world does nothing. For the sake of allhumanity regardless the world has to act.

  • Our words of rage, of longing for Dr Abu Safiya to be freed and safe will go nowhere. Israel, it seems, can behave as abhorrently as it wants and it is left to brave journalists to report the horrors going on there. When I think of Israel, the word fascist comes to mind. When I think of Dr Safiya, I am enraged that this humanitarian is being tortured by young men (and dogs!!) – encouraged by their their seniors. It is beyond despicable. I don’t have words…

  • We all saw the video of the medics and first responders spotting their colleagues ambulance that they were looking for and walking down to it. They had absolutely no idea there was a contingent of IDF soldiers close by, and the soldiers knew it. And they murdered them, as they had their colleagues. And then lied about it, saying the vehicles had no lights on etc… And but for the fact that one of the people they murdered had videoed what happened and then – after being murdered – been buried with his phone in his pocket, the IDF wouldn’t have been exposed for the lying murderers they are.

My point is of course that we on the left all know that Israel lies through it’s rotten mass-murdering genocidal teeth all the time, and that their response about the condition of Hussam – and the reasons they give for incarcerating him – are just more of the same of course (well, they were hardly going to admit it all, were they).

Yes, we on the left all know it, but so too do our so-called political leaders and our oh-so free media!
